Saemien Sijte, which in South Sami means ‘place of the Sami’ or ‘community of the Sami’ (from the word sïjte), functions as a national museum dedicated to South Sami history and culture. In addition to its role as a museum, the institution actively works to strengthen and preserve the South Sami identity. Among the museum's most valuable artefacts are the Bindalstromma - a traditional South Sami rune boom - as well as two gapth, traditional South Sami costumes, which belonged to the Sami politician and activist Elsa Laula Renberg.

Along the way, you'll be given a Norwegian packed meal and the tour guide will talk about the areas we pass.

At Saemien Sijte, we'll get a guided tour, lunch of traditional ingredients from the South Sámi area and the opportunity to test our lasso throwing skills.

Along the way, we also stop at what is considered one of the country's finest petroglyphs; Bølareinen - a full-size reindeer.
